HEART STRINGS DUET - THE STORY OF FOLK ROCK - SATURDAY 2ND AUGUST 2025
In the mid 1960s and early 1970s, a new wave in music exploded in the USA and Great Britain known as “Folk-Rock”. Artists such as Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and many others were taking folk sounds and bringing them into mainstream culture. By doing so, they created a body of songs that not only chimed with the counterculture mood of the time but continue to resonate into the present day.
Heart Strings Duet, consisting of Valerie Rathmann (Vocals, Cello & Double Bass) and Rupert Gillett (Vocals & Guitars) are proud to present “The Story of Folk Rock”. As well as re-interpreting the songs with their signature close harmony vocal sound and finely tuned instrumental interplay, the duo also tell the story of how the music developed from artist to artist as well some of the behind-the-scenes dramas that lead to the songs themselves.
So for an evening of beautiful harmony singing, rocking acoustic grooves as well as witty and fascinating anecdotes, book your tickets for “The Story of Folk Rock”. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
