ABOUT THE AWARD
Our Young Artist Award was established by The Bank's founding Director, Rebecca Lynne, back in 2013. This annual exhibition provided young artists across East Anglia with the opportunity to take their first steps in their creative practices, and gain confidence and experience exhibiting their work. Sadly, the original award only ran for 2 years.
As part of The Bank's re-development, we re-launched the awards in 2022 to provide a platform for creative students from Suffolk and Norfolk aged 15-18, and formally recognising those who are dedicated to developing practical skills in the creative and contemporary arts. The annual event now includes a 4 week group exhibition at The Bank - featuring the work of students selected from schools across the region - and an awards evening presenting an exciting array of commendations, prizes, and opportunities.
EXHIBITION & AWARDS 2024
The Award continues to grow each year and we are proud to now be working with five partner schools to showcase over 50 students across GCSE, A Level and Foundation courses. All students featured in the exhibition are shortlisted for the awards, including the opportunity to have a mini solo exhibition at The Bank in 2025.
Our partner schools are - Abbeygate Sixth Form (Bury St Edmunds), Debenham High School, Diss High School & Sixth Form, Hartismere School and One Sixth Form College (Ipswich).
