CALL TO ARTISTS - ARTWORKS OF EYE
We are inviting artists to create artworks inspired by the Town of Eye as part of an creative story telling project by Eastern Angles Theatre Company. This opportunity is open to all visual artists and we are looking for contributors of all ages. The artworks can be representations of sights and locations around the town, or interpretations of personal stories inspired by the history, nature, people, shops, weather, transport, animals, homes of the town. Things that bring you joy, fascinate you and move you.
We encourage submissions from students, young artists and professionals alike. We will consider submissions of any 2D media, this may include, but is not limited to - painting, drawing, print, digital media, photography and textile.
Successful submissions artworks will be featured in an exhibition at The Bank Arts Centre over the launch event of the audio trail. In addition, artworks will be featured in the marketing of the trail and graphics included in trail posters and other supporting material.
The Bank Arts Centre is supporting with Eastern Angles Theatre Company on their new creative story telling project "Streets Aloud!".
ABOUT STREETS ALOUD! PROJECT
The project will create an atmospheric 30-minute audio experience inspired by the town of Eye made up of poems, lyrics and short stories written by people who live, work, or attend school in the town. We hope this project will document personal histories and connect people to your town - with it’s history told through your words. The stories will be read by actors and will sound beautiful thanks to our talented Sound Designer, Jack Baxter. Once it’s finished, the recording will be free to access. People can enjoy listening on their headphones either at home or (ideally!) whilst wandering around town soaking up the sights, smells and sounds that provided the inspiration.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
You can submit up to 5 artworks for consideration.
Submissions close at 4pm on Friday 5 April 2024. Artists will be notified whether their submission was successful by Saturday 6 April 2024.
