These fun and experimental sessions will look at drawing in a more expanded way. Participants will be guided through using unusual materials and experimental techniques to develop new ways of mark making, working towards making abstract representation.
The session will include -
- Starting with series of 5-10 minute drawing exercises - Including drawing only using line, drawing with two contrasting colours, drawing with your other hand, drawing blind.
- Moving onto more experimental exercises - such as drawing a sound, drawing on different shaped surfaces (long strips of paper, folded booklets, or a big roll of paper, drawing with an eraser).
- Finally expanding on a chosen technique, or a combination, to draw something in the room - This could be a person, the building, an object, a noise, or still life set up.
The emphasis of this session is to encourage exploration with creative mediums and break down preconceptions surrounding what ‘good drawing’ looks like. Further we hope to give participants a new perspective on mark making to enhance and broaden their creative practices.
