PATRICK BAKER
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE "Trained as a graphic designer and illustrator, I have long found comfort and meaning in the creative process. Recently I have returned to my artistic roots as a form of therapy, and particularly enjoy exploring connections, be that the relationships we build and develop with our peers, or with nature and our environment. I am fascinated with the human condition and the power we hold for empathy and understanding in a world that is constantly changing. Raised in the quiet landscapes of Suffolk I went on to study Graphic Design and Illustration, specialising in editorial design. However I missed the freedom of expression that came with my first love, art." Website: www.createatwill.com Instagram: @create.atwill |
MEGAN WELTON ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Painter based in Breckland Norfolk whose work focuses on the natural world around her and local wildlife. Using special people in her life as the inspiration behind the personalities of the animals that she paints. Graduate of Norwich University of the Arts. Megan was diagnosed with a rare brain disorder called Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (affecting 1 in 100,000 people) shortly after starting her final year at university. She has adapted her way of working around her neurological condition. Instagram: @meganwelton_illustration |
RACHEL BURCHELL WORKSHOP TUTOR "Inspired by artists who express emotional intensity through their mark making and use their work to address internal emotional states or trauma, such as Joan Mitchell, Tracey Emin and Louise Bourgeois, I seek to explore the connections between the outer natural world and my inner emotional landscapes, with mark making and collage being the predominant language. I’m drawn to the overlooked, the unnoticed, the disregarded - not conventional beauty, but finding the beauty in the overgrown, chaotic and disintegrating. Nothing wasted is my repeating mantra." RACHEL WRIGHT
WORKSHOP TUTOR I am an environmentally-focused photographic artist based in Norwich, Norfolk, UK. I hold an MA with distinction in Arts & Ecology from Dartington Arts School, and have exhibited my work widely in the UK and worldwide. I am particularly interested in the role of the arts in healing the nature/culture divide which is such a prevalent narrative in our society, and the potential impact of this on our relationship with the more-than-human world. Alongside and very much informed by my personal creative practice, I work as a socially engaged arts facilitator, running courses and workshops with a focus on creative expression, wellbeing and nature connection.
