POWERED BY VOLUNTEERS
A CREATIVE HUB FOR THE COMMUNITY, RUN BY THE COMMUNITY

For over a decade, The Bank Arts Centre has been dedicated to bringing Arts, Culture and Community to Eye and the surrounding area. As some of you may know (but many don’t!) The Bank is a not-for-profit organisation run by a small team of Volunteers. Everything we do – from art exhibitions, workshops, live events and café service – is made possible only by the generosity and enthusiasm of our volunteers! This includes our Directors, café and event staff, baker, exhibition support and more, all who help make The Bank a special place for our community.
WORDS FROM OUR TEAM

We would be lost without our incredible team, here are some thoughts on why they wanted to join our team and what volunteering means to them:
"Whilst The Bank is not a charity in the conventional sense, it still thrives on willing volunteers. Volunteering here enables me to enable others to access the arts in a relaxed, inexpensive and inclusive way, where other institutions may seem inaccessible" - Hilary (Front of House Volunteer, 2025 - 2026)
"I wanted to volunteer at the Bank as I really value it as a community resource in our town. The fact it had to close on Saturday due to lack of volunteers spurred me into action. It’s often when such resources close forever that the community realises what it’s missing. I now feel that my time is well spent and is helping the Bank to survive and thrive." - Elaine (Front of House Volunteer, 2026)

HELP US KEEP CREATIVITY AND COMMUNITY THRIVING

To continue our work, we are in need of new volunteers to join our team. Whether you’re creative, curious, or simply keen to make a difference. You don’t need experience, just a willingness to get involved and a bit of time to spare. Whether it’s a couple of hours a month or a regular weekly shift, your support helps keep The Bank open, welcoming, and thriving for the whole community.

We have many volunteering roles for you to get involved, most importantly we are looking for individuals to support:

  • Café and front‑of‑house service
  • Evening event support
  • Workshop and activity set‑up
  • Exhibition installation and invigilation
  • Building maintenance and cleaning
  • And More!

Not sure if volunteering would suit you? You don’t need special skills to get involved — qualities that make a great volunteer might include: Friendly and approachable, reliable, patient and calm, open to learning, enjoys working in a team, good communicator, positive attitude, community-minded, detail orientated, passionate about Arts and Culture, and happy to represent The Bank!

To ensure we provide a high-quality service, most roles do require some training, so please note that we do require a bit of commitment if you are considering getting involved at The Bank.

Volunteering is a two-way relationship that can be enriching and rewarding – whether you want to learn new skills, meet new people or try something new – why not join us at The Bank? In return for giving time to volunteering, we provide:

• Travel expenses
• Training and qualifications (where needed)
• Free drinks and discounted food during shifts
• Discounted Event Tickets and Workshops
• A friendly, supportive environment
• The chance to build confidence, learn new skills, and make a real difference locally
